Waxman completed a crossing of the Catalina Channel in 12 hours 51 minutes on August 19th under the auspices of the Catalina Channel Swimming Federation to join the Half Century Club. Waxman previously completed a crossing of the English Channel in 2010 under the auspices of the Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation in 14 hours 6 minutes.
While he did the English Channel and Catalina Channel once each, Waxman seemingly cannot get enough of the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim. Besides participating in a 6-person relay in 2002, he has completed the 28.5-mile circumnavigation three separate times at the age of 41 in 2006 in 8 hours 30 minutes, at the age of 45 in 2010 in 8 hours 33 minutes, and at the age of 49 in 2014 in 9 hours 27 minutes. He also completed a Manhattan Island Marathon Swim relay with the AGUA FishGang on June 23rd 2002 in 7 hours 53 minutes.
Waxman is shown holding the coat of arms of McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
