In honor of World Oceans Day on June 8th, swimmers, sailors, surfers, paddlers and divers can get together and be part of the Oceanic Big Five – the top five sports communities that use the ocean.
Doug Woodring explains, “Get a group together and create a cleanup in your favorite section of water, coast or reef. Let us know what you cleaned with a few photos and the estimated weight or number of bags collected, and send the information to info@oceanrecov.orginfo@oceanrecov.org). You can do this cleanup anytime in the month of June in honor of the ocean.
If you can’t do a cleanup, you can also go out and ‘See-Share-Solve’ with the Global Alert Platform and app to track trash hotspots anywhere in the world’s waters and coastlines. Your information and geotagging of sites can make a big difference, so please spread the word with www.globalalert.org.
