Jim Loreto Does Frosted Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming

46-year-old Jim Loreto is following in the wake of iconic personalities in the sport of open water swimming:

They are members of the Frosted Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming, a concept begun by Gordon Gridley for those who complete both the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming and an Ice Mile in water lower than 5°C.

Subsequent to completing his Triple Crown and achieving an Ice Mile, Gridley came up with the concept of the Frosted Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming. After Loreto completed the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming, he attempted and finished an Ice Mile in Anne Arundel, Maryland in 34 minutes 11 seconds in 3.7°C water to demonstrate his endurance in marathon swims marathons and ice swimming

The Frosted Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming (or FTC) is a term for individuals who complete both the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming (English Channel + Catalina Channel + 20 Bridges Manhattan Island Swim) and an officially verified Ice Mile, demonstrating endurance in both swimming marathon distances and extreme cold water swimming.
