Back on September 5th 1988, the renowned Olympic and world champion Janet Evans found herself on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu.
Later in September, she traveled to Korea and won three gold medals (in the 400m individual medley, 400m freestyle and 800m freestyle) at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
But she took a stop in her training regimen and stopped over to the Waikiki Roughwater Swim. She graced the women’s 30-34 age group awards ceremony with Dee Haynie (53:03), Lori Scott (56:01) and Kaia Hedlund (56:12), with her golden smile that was soon to be seen around the world due to her Olympic heroics.
