When I think of Mexican open water swimming, I do not think of cold water. Instead, I think of the warm tropical waters of Cancún or the wild waters from Ensenada to Cabo San Lucas along Baja California in the Pacific Ocean, or in the Mexican Riviera stretch including Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, and Acapulco.
But Mexican swimmers are getting the ice swimming itch.
Veteran Ice Miler and marathon swimmer Anna Valeria Zuccolotto Soto led 11 newbies who ventured in 6.4°C to 7.8°C water for the first time. Their swims ranged from 100m to 1000m on February 22nd and 23rd at Presa Situriachi in Juanito, Chihuahua at 2500m in altitude.
