MyFitnessPal and MapMyFitness, two health-tracking apps, compiled information from a total of 85 million users in America to rank the healthiest states in the country. Data on Americans’ dies and exercise patterns were analyzed and then rated based on four dietary factors (consumed calories, sodium, fiber, and sugar) and the frequency and length of workout sessions.

The top five states that scored highest according to these parameters included:

1. California
2. Arizona
3. Colorado
4. Washington
5. Oregon

We ask and guess that the frequency and length of workout sessions in California must be at least indirectly related to the year-round temperature weather, outdoors-oriented mindset of the population, and the extraordinarily large number of exercise venues including over 43,000 swimming pools in Los Angeles City alone, over 3,000 lakes, and 840 miles (1,350 km) of Pacific Ocean coastline.
