51-year-old New Yorker Matt Judge from New Rochelle, 30-year-old Kerby Lewis also from New Rochelle, and 29-year-old Turk Emre Erdogan from Izmir all swam and played water polo at Iona College.

The trio decided to attempt a tandem swim together across the Strait of Gibraltar on September 30th. Judge (Iona Class of 1987), Lewis (Class of 2009), and Emre Erdogan (Class of 2010) enjoyed nice weather, 65ºF (18ºC) water temperature and a few currents to swim through en route to their 4 hour 41 minute crossing. “The water quality was great, very clear, with dolphins on our ride back to Spain.”
