Ioannis Kotsiopoulos’ Remarkable 3-Way Of Toroneos Gulf

Ioannis Kotsiopoulos (Γιάννης Κωτσιόπουλος) is a Greek open water swimmer who has spent many hours swimming across the Toroneos Gulf.

He has completed 10 crossings of the International Swimming Marathon of Toroneos Gulf (ΔΙΕΘΝΗΣ ΚΟΛΥΜΒΗΤΙΚΟΣ ΔΙΑΠΛΟΥΣ ΤΟΡΩΝΑΙΟΥ ΚΟΛΠΟΥ). The Toroneos Gulf Swim is 26 km marathon swim from Kalithea, Kassandra to Nikiti, Sithonia in Halkidiki, northern Greece that is annually held on the third weekend of July.

His most remarkable crossings included a 52 km two-way crossing in 23 hours 51 minutes at the age of 48 in 2001 and a 78 km three-way crossing in 35 hours 20 minutes at the age of 52 in 2005 [see video above, a swim ranked 53rd in the 24-Hour Club].

Additionally, he serves as the president of the Greek marathon swimming club Leandros.
