Dayna McKay aims to replicate last year’s successful 52 km solo swim between Prince Rupert in British Columbia, Canada and her village of Lax Kw’alaams on June 28th.
The 44-year-old McKay calls her swim, The Journey Home as part of her Into The Sea Cancer Free trek (see video below). Swimming to achieve several goals, McKay wishes to raise awareness of the battle against all cancers, demonstrate her specific support for her cancer-riddled uncle, and give inspiration to the younger generation of First Nations that anything is possible through hard work and desire.
Armed with a 7mm full body wetsuit, fins, and a support tea on 5 escort boats, she expects to swim all day and night. However long it takes in order to raise $50,000. For more information, visit here.
