In Pursuit Around Manhattan Island

Spread the love

Following in the footsteps of the European Championships, the FINA World Swimming Championships and the Pacific Open Water Swim, NYC Swim is adding a 3-person Team Pursuit race to its schedule in 2012.

For its June 23rd Manhattan Island Marathon Swim, NYC Swim will host the longest and most scenic 3-person Team Pursuit in history. Teams of three swimmers will swim together as a pack, pacing and drafting off one another along the course.

Team members will finish together with the time of the last team member crossing the finish as the official team time.

Also, beginning in 2012, the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim will be split into two events in order to maximize the number of participants: the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim for solo swimmers, 2-person relays, and the 3-person Team Pursuit in June and the Manhattan Island Relays for 4- and 6-person relays in August.
