Ashley Twichell, the quiet, hardworking distance swimmer from Duke University, was nominated by USA Swimming for its annual Golden Goggle Awards: in the Breakout Performer of the Year category.
The USA Swimming Foundation Golden Goggle Awards are a star-studded awards gala celebrating the top accomplishments in American swimming. This year’s event will be held on November 20th at the JW Marriott in Los Angeles, California.
Ashley, the two-time medalist at the 2011 World Swimming Championship (bronze in the 5K and gold in the 5K Team Pursuit event), is the epitome of a breakout star who came to the open water swimming world late in her college career and has zoomed to the top of her sport…with plenty of upside and potential yet to fulfill.
