Ice Swimming Hall Of Fame Inaugural Class

The Ice Swimming Hall of Fame is an organization founded in 2018 by various representatives of the sport of ice swimming, led by Ned Denison.

He explains, “The objective of the Ice Swimming Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor leading ice and icy water swimmers and contributors to the sport. The Ice Swimming Hall of Fame serves as a historic record and provide heroes and role models for future generations. The inaugural class of honorees was the Class of 2019.”

The members of the Class of 2019 will be recognized by the International Ice Swimming Association in Murmansk, Russia at the International Ice Swimming Association 3rd World Championship and 1st Ice Swimming Arctic Cup this week.

Ram Barkai, a double honoree, is the founder of the International Ice Swimming Association.

Bering Strait Relay was an unprecedented 6-day relay swim across the Bering Strait from Cape Dezhnev in Russia, to Cape Prince of Wales in Alaska, USA passing by Big Diomede and Little Diomede Islands in August 2013.

Jaimie Monahan completed the first Ice Sevens in history and has completed 9 Ice Miles to date.

Aleksander Brylin of Russia is an Ice Zero Swimmer and organized the Bering Strait Swim.

Lewis Pugh of UK/South Africa is the United Nations Patron of the Oceans and the world’s most renowned Speedo Diplomat.

Henri Kaarma of Estonia is an Ice Zero Swimmer and the 2014 World Open Water Swimming Man of the Year.

Mariia Yrjö-Koskinen is the Chairperson of the International Winter Swimming Association and the International Winter Swimming World Cup circuit from 2006 to the present.

Steven Munatones is the founder of the World Open Water Swimming Association.
