We have swam in Huntington Beach, California for over 40 years.
We love swimming along the shoreline and going up and down in the ocean swells as we breathe towards shore and look at the palm trees and coastal homes.
It was only today when we heard about Trolleys (alternatively called Trolley Cars or Boxcars), the legendary surf break caused by a sand bar 1.6 km offshore where surfable waves exist under certain conditions (8-10+ foot surf in low tide).
While surfers need a boat or Jetski to access this rare surf spot, it is possible to swim out with an escort boat or paddler.
The spot is directly one mile outside the Huntington Beach Cliffs halfway to an oil rig off Goldenwest Street that is reportedly only generated once every five years.
We’ll be on the lookout for the time Trolleys is going off.
