People from far and wide have been curious about Diana Nyad‘s swim from Cuba to Florida. Diana is still being patient and still hanging strong, waiting for the optimal conditions…which will not come this week apparently.

The weather forecast for southern Florida for the remainder of this week:

Tuesday, September 14th: east winds near 15 knots, increasing to 20 knots early. Seas beyond the reef building to 4-6 feet with seas higher in the Gulf Stream. Near shore waters choppy, scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Tuesday night and Wednesday, September 15th: east winds 15-20 knots. Seas beyond reef 4-6 feet with seas higher in the Gulf Stream. Near shore waters choppy, scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Thursday and Friday, September 16th-17th: northeast to east winds near 15 knots. Seas beyond the reef 3-5 feet with seas higher in the Gulf Stream. Near shore waters a moderate chop, scattered showers and thunderstorms.

While most swimmers attempting Catalina Channel pick a specific day and hope for the best and all swimmers attempting the English Channel hope to swim during their window of opportunity, it is something entirely else to train for months on end and then peak for an optimal performance…and then have to wait not just days or weeks…but in Diana‘s case, months.

But her time will come.
