Fran Crippen’s Legacy In The Open Water

Craig Lord reported that FINA has renamed its the 10K circuit as the FINA 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup 2011/Memorial Fran Crippen.

The 2011 season will resume in April with the Santos, Brazil race where several national federations will select their athletes for the 2011 World Championships in July.

Cornel Marculescu told the Swim News, “We postponed the 10K events until mid-April because we hope that by that date we will have the report of the Task Force and the Bureau will have been able to [take a view] of things and make some decisions before the racing starts.”

The Daily News of Open Water Swimming has heard of other events that will be either started or renamed in Fran’s honor in the upcoming seasons.
