FINA World Masters Swimming Championships

The 2017 FINA Masters World Championships will be held in Budapest, Hungary with its open water swimming events held in Balatonfüred between August 10th-12th.

55 years and older will compete in the open water on August 10th while age 40-54 will compete on August 11th, and the 25-39 year old youngsters
will compete on the third and last day of the open water events on August 12th.

Balatonfüred is a small town with 13,500 inhabitants, on the north shore of Lake Balaton, surrounded by gently sloping hillocks. Known as the Hungarian Sea, the Lake Balaton locals know very well how to host and organize a world-class open water swimming competition.

In addition to being site of a stop on the FINA/HOSA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup Series and FINA World Cup Mass Participation Race, Lake Balaton has hosted a number of local and additional events including the 2014 FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships and the 5.2 km Balaton Átúszás, one of the largest mass participation open water swimming events in the world.
