Evan Feldman and Hylton Lockitch on South Africa’s Madswimmer were interviewed on Expresso Show about their Dead Sea Swim, 17.5 km between Jordan and Israel across the Dead Sea in a group tandem swim.
Open water swimmers can face inherent risks while completing a swim that can range include marine life from sharks and jellyfish to orcas and sea snakes, currents, tidal flows, turbulence, waves, wind, hypothermia, hyperthermia, night swimming and injuries of all sorts.
But when a group of swimmers swimmers including the Madswimmers and Cyprus Israel Swimmers successfully crossed the Dead Sea from Jordan to Israel while completing world’s lowest swim at 423 meters below sea level, they faced a fairly unique threat: reverse osmosis and the imminent threat of death if the toxic waters of the Dead Sea seeped into their eyes or mouths.
Madswimmers Evan Feldman and Hylton Lockitch explained the risks that they faced with their fellow swimmates* in their interview on the Expresso Show.
