This past weekend, Evgeny Drattsev of Russia and Eva Fabian of the USA out-swam their competitors (47 from 15 countries) in the new 12K La Patagones Viedma pro marathon race.
Swimming in the Negro River, the athletes had the pleasure of competing in the southernmost open water swimming race in the world.
Two-time world silver medalist Evgeny (2:33.07) narrowly beat teammate Sergey Bolshakov (2:33.10) and reigning 25K world champion Alex Meyer of the USA (2:33.14).
Among women, Eva just laid down the hammer and won comfortably by over one minute in 2:53.44. Poliana Okimoto from Brazil was second in 2:54.58 with France’s Ophelie Aspord third in 2:55.00.
