The women started the last leg of the 2026 European Aquatics Open Water Swimming Cup in Barcelona, Spain on October 3rd, but heavy rain and strong winds caused a power outage and the officials halted the race after 2. km.
Swimmers were stopped and then evacuated from the course that has been site of nine European Open Water Swimming Cups and 98 total open water swimming competitions.
European Aquatics will announce the season rankings at a later time.
Special Olympics
In collaboration between European Aquatics and Special Olympics Europe Eurasia, the Special Olympics 800m open water swim in Barcelona was held earlier in the day at 10:30 am. 17 swimmers from Gibraltar, Hungary, Spain, and Italy competed without problems.
