Doing Ice In A Bigger, Global Way: The IISA Ice Circuit

Spread the love

Once Ram Barkai puts his mind on something, it will get done.

After he hosted the first Ice Mile in Fraserburg on the Northern Cape, known as the coldest region of South Africa in 2011, the growth of ice swimming has been on a constant upward trajectory. There has also been a significant shift in the speed in the swimmer, embodied by Christof Wandratsch’s world record of 13:00 minutes and Renata Nováková record of 14:21 in 0.08°C water and -3°C air at the 1 km at the 1st International Ice Swimming Association World Championships in March 2015 in Murmansk, Russia (see here) .
