Describing The Gran Fondo Italia

The 2017 Gran Fondo Italia is an independent open water swimming circuit created in 2016.

It offers a number of long distance races from 15 km to 25 km) at several Italian venues. Each race has the lowest possible environmental impact in terms of the means used with the assistance of canoeists and kayakers.

Gran Fondo Italia combines different open water swimming long-distance races in a circuit, creating a unique event in Italy. Long distance events are for swimming what the marathon is for running and has become increasingly popular in recent years.

The Gran Fondo Italia logo features a classic swimming icon where the swimmer is sailing the waves of Italian open water swimming, represented by the “Gran Fondo Italia” name. “Gran Fondo” in Italian means long distance.

The icon and the name are in blue, which represents the water and the classic color of the Italian national team.

The Italian flag is placed below to highlight the relationship between the circuit and the Italian peninsula, positioned like a hat over the logo phrase.

The white background of the logo is a deliberate choice to create a vacuum effect in the flag between the green and the red strips, in which the white strip is underplayed or rather seems to disappear. We strove to symbolically represent two separated points, like two coasts, that can be united by ideals as bridges unite the land across the open water.
