More than 450 delegates from 202 national federatins are gathering this week at the 1st FINA World Aquatics Convention in Punta del Este, Uruguay.
During the three-day convention, the delegates are coming together under the motto ‘Together we can make Aquatics bigger’ with the purpose to network and to build-up future partnership and business opportunities. The delegates will discuss and develop a plan to capitalize on new trends in media, sponsorship and promotion, television exposure of the aquatic disciplines and new opportunities for financing the sport.
FINA is also presenting its FINA National Federation Development Plan Handbook that will be distributed all FINA members with information on the governance, management, budgeting and volunteer recruitment for aquatic events.
“In Uruguay, the aquatic family will have the opportunity to be together, to improve its relationship, and to construct new bridges of partnership for the future,” said FINA President Dr. Julio Maglione.
At the conference, the voice and presence of open water swimming is in the able hands of Dennis Miller of Fiji, one of the most knowledgeable and key administrators of the sport over the last 15 years.
