English Channel record holder and FINA Grand Prix champion Trent Grimsey of Australia and 2-time Olympic gold medalist Ous Mellouli met twice before in the open water.

And Grimsey has won both times at the 2008 and 2009 Tiburon Mile (20:31 vs. 20:52 in 2008, and 22:18 vs. 23:47 in 2009).

Their third clash will be held in Rio de Janeiro at the professional King and Queen of the Sea competition on the 2016 Rio Olympics marathon swimming course this December.
