Dale Petranech, Honorable Secretary of the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame, officially designated two new swims by established open water swimmers in the archives of the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame.
For the September 1st swim of David Yudovin who swam 12 nautical miles from Madeira Ihla to Deserta Grande Ihla in the Madeira Island Group, a beautiful Portuguese archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, in a time of 7 hours and 3 minutes.
For the July 22nd swim of James Jonsson of South Jordan, Utah who swam 19 miles along the length of Bear Lake on the Utah – Idaho Border from Laketown, Utah to the northernmost point in Bear Lake in a time of 8 hours and 53 minutes.
