International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame chairman Ned Denison interviewed swimmer, coach, mentor, kayaker and crew member Dan Simonelli on today’s edition of WOWSA Live.
In his WOWSA Live interview, the 54-year-old prolific escort crew member, most well-known for his help and guidance across the Catalina Channel and the California Channel Islands talked about:
* swimming 14 marathon swims around the world including one point-to-point relay along the North Shore of Molokai Island in Hawaii
* coaching, observing and kayaking in 2009 after training in La Jolla Cove with Barbara Held
* getting involved in channel relays with Carol Sing
* learning about S.C.A.R. Swim Challenge in 2013 and doing SCAR in 2014
* kayaking and crewing for over 200 channel swims including a recent one from Anacapa Island
* teaming up with Chloë McCardel with some English Channel relays with the ARCH Academy Zombies
* making plans from Croatia for teenage swimmers to Oceans Seven swimmer Antonio Argùelles
* working with Kevin Eslinger who kayaks with a GPS unit in order to help with navigation
* getting involved with Swim Across America while having to face melanoma skin cancer and getting along with living and swimming
* getting excited for his upcoming ocean circumnavigation around Anacapa Island off the California coast on September 10th
