Ali Meeks is an open water swimmer, triathlon coach, and swim instructor from Decatur, Alabama who recently co-wrote a book called Conquer Your Fear of the Triathlon Swim together with Melon Dash from of Sarasota, Florida.
She explains, “Our book was released on June 4th uses a mindfulness approach to understanding swimming in the context of healing fear of open water swims. This approach has been used successfully for many years with beginning “learn to swim” fearful adults, but in the book is now applied to the challenge of open water fear.
The title is about triathlon swimming, but it would be helpful for anyone who is a little anxious about open water. In addition, we’ve spoken with several experienced open water swimmers that still feel fear occasionally in open water, and we’d like them to have the opportunity to have fear-free swims every time.
We present a step-by-step method to conquer fear and replace it with confidence and peace of mind. These mindfulness methods have been used to teach beginning adults with fear of water for nearly four decades and are now applied to the challenge of triathlon. The book is available in paperback, audiobook and ebook.”
