Oceans Seven Andy Donaldson (@andy.swimming) of Scotland has taken the 45.9 km circumnavigation swim around Manhattan Island in New York City to the next level.
With a dark 2:00 am start, 33-year-old Donaldson and 25-year-old Josie Page (@josiepage_) from Western Australia attempted a course record around Manhattan Island under ideal situations.
Donaldson broke the record by slightly under 4 minutes.
New York Open Water reported, “5:41:48 is three and and half minutes under the 2011 record. Josie Page also had a fantastic swim; however, her time of 5:47:36 (unofficial) was slightly above the female record.” Their RS tracker is posted here.
On September 28th 2011, Oliver Wilkinson set the former record in 5 hours 44 minutes 2 seconds while Rondi Davies, also of Australia, finished in 5 hours 44 minutes 47 seconds.
