Chilling In Ullswater And Windermere

Colin Hill of Chillswim swam in some rough, cold water in Ullswater, England yesterday. “This is where I have moved. There were strong winds and snow storms sweeping across the country. So it’s time to swim!

It is that kind of passion for the sport of open water swimming that has driven Hill to host his Big Chill Swim event in Windermere on January 31st and February 1st.

We are now full with 800 entries in the 3-day event. It includes swimmers from Norway, Russia, Finland, Lativa, Germany and the U.S.A. On Friday, January 30th, registration opens. On Saturday, January 31st, the International Winter Swimming events are held from 9 am to 5 pm with presentations, a buffet meal and barn dance held afterwards. On Sunday, we hold the International Ice Swimming Association 1 km British Championships. There is also a marquee to host an expo at the event.”
