Challenger From Chattanooga Heads To Rio

Sean Ryan from Tennessee is definitely a medal favorite in the men’s Olympic 10K Marathon Swim at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

The fourth place finisher in the 10 km at the 2015 FINA World Championships is outside the global media’s radar, especially with flashier and more well-known competitors taking the marathon swimming spotlight in Copacabana Beach, but a podium finish is well within Ryan’s capabilities.

He has the stamina to stay up with the lead pack and the speed to put himself in medal contention down the finish chute. He knows his competitors well as he has been competing at the elite level for years. An engineer-to-be from the University of Michigan, the former Wolverine is also tactical and analytical in his approach.
