Brilliant Swimming. Dávid Betlehem Swims to the Podium in the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim

28 men lined up on the starting pontoon – 4 swimmers did not line up to the start of the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

After a tough, challenging, dynamic race, 20-year-old Dávid Bethlehem made a strong move on the fifth of six 1.67 laps in the Seine and moved closed to his leading Hungarian teammate and eventual gold medalist, Kristóf Rasovszky.

Betlehem was always in the hunt, trailing at the edges of the lead pack.

His pace was solid throughout with his lap split times of 11:40.7, 11:32.7, 11:41.7, 11:52.2, 11:40.0, and the final slightly longer lap of 12:09.7. But it was on the last two laps where he proved himself to be an Olympic medalist, outsprinting Domenico Acerenza of Italy by 0.6 seconds to capture bronze. Over the last year, Betlehem can competed and trained very hard. He raced in France, Italy, Hungary, Egypt, and Qatar, and trained in the pool and the Danube to realize his Olympic dreams.

His training culminated in a 4th place finish in the 1500m freestyle and a bronze in 10 km marathon swim.
