A total of 57 athletes have been confirmed by their National Olympic Committees and National Federations to compete in 6 loops of 1.67 km each in the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. If everything goes to plan, 24 women representing 17 countries will compete in the River Seine near the famed Eiffel Tower at Pont Alexandre III on August 8th.
22 women automatically qualified or earned their National Olympic Committee quota places through their performances at the World Aquatics Championships held in either Fukuoka 2023 or Doha 2024. An additional 13 athletes achieved the Olympic qualification standard in either the 800m or 1500m freestyle and compete in at least one of these events in Paris are confirmed to compete in Marathon Swimming.

Among the women, Leonie Martens of Germany and Ginevra Taddeucci of Italy qualified with their 800m pool times. As a result of qualifying through this pathway, Martens and Taddeucci are also required to compete in the 800m swimming competition at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

- August 6th: Practice on Olympic 10K Marathon Swim course on the Seine between 7:30 – 9:30 am with a technical meeting between 10:30 – 11:30 am
- August 7th: Practice on Olympic 10K Marathon Swim course on the Seine between 7:30 – 9:30 am
- August 8th: Women’s Olympic 10K Marathon Swim course on the Seine. Athletes arrive at 5:30 am. First call room open between 5:30 – 6:30 am. 6:00 – 6:45 am warm-up on the Seine. 7:15 – 7:20 am last briefing in final call room. 7:24 – 7:28 am athletes presentation. 7:30 am start. 9:20 – 9:25 am expected first swimmer finish. 9:30 – 9:50 am expected last swimmer arrival. 9:30 – 10:00 am mixed zone interviews. 10:05 – 10:15 Olympic medal ceremony. 10:30 – 11:00 am press conference
- August 9th: Men’s Olympic 10K Marathon Swim course on the Seine
- August 10th: Reserve Day if delayed
Race Course on the Seine
Let the Games begin.
The opening of the Olympic Village will be on July 18th with the Opening Ceremony held on July 26th. Athletes will take their headshots between July 23rd to August 5th and pool training is held between July 27th to August 10th. An important Team Leaders’ meeting will be held on August 6th to share last-minute decisions and contingency plans if necessary. The Closing Ceremony is held on August 11th and the Olympic Village closes on August 13th.
