Be Race Ready podcast episode #10 is posted online.
Coach Gerry Rodrigues discusses breathing and answers questions from ‘How often should you breathe?’ and ‘Should you hold your breath?’ to ‘How does less or more breathing effect performance?’
Tower 26’s Rodrigues describes the mechanics, recommended frequency, and specifics of breathing in 30 compact minutes of education.
“We need to breathe frequently [when we swim],” explains Rodrigues.
He later explains why big breaths cause stuff to occur. “Over-rotation and a leg spread or scissors kick are symptoms of problems of these big breaths.” He offers many other observations from how to avoid shortness of breath to the importance of properly preparing one’s wetsuit that only comes from coaching thousands of triathletes in the pool and open water and on race day.
The Tower 26 Be Race Ready episodes are available free on iTunes and at TOWER26.com together with host Jim Lubinski.
