Tomorrow’s Little Red Lighthouse Swim will be the largest 10K swim in the world as it just hit its maximum participant number of 250 athletes – yet another indication of the growing increase of the longer distance races.

The increasingly popular 10K swim goes down the Hudson River, organized by the NYC Swim group, passes under the George Washington Bridge and offers outstanding views of Manhattan Island on the left and the state of New Jersey on the right.

In an innovative twist to the current-assisted swim, the athletes are separated into seven different heats – with the slowest swimmers starting first and the fastest swimmers starting last. The field is separated into different heats in order for most of the athletes will finish together.

Favorites include Australian Rondi Davies who finished just behind Petar Stoychev in recent Manhattan Island Marathon Swim World Record Attempt and young Harry Stephenson of Florida (shown above) who recently was the top American swimmer in the Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships 10K in Maui.
