There is all kind of action across the Tsugaru Channel over the last few days. The Ocean Navi Sado relay called it a day after 18 hours 10 minutes as did solo British swimmer Beth French after 10 hours 33 minutes in the 18°C water. On both attempts, the wind and weather conditions were fine (and flat) at the start and then things got too rough to continue.
Today, Brad McVetta from New York is heading to the start and gearing up for his second attempt from Honshu to Hokkaido.
For follow-up information on Beth French’s decision on why she voluntarily exited the channel, visit her explanation here.
