Becca Mann Breaks Through

Becca Mann has long been seen as a precocious swimmer, both in the pool and in the open water.

She works hard and is focused. But the 15-year-old has always just been behind her more senior competitors.

Not anymore. She had a breakout swim yesterday at the 2013 USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Championships where she barreled through the 8-women lead pack and just touched out Eva Fabian, Emily Brunemann, Ashley Twichell, Tristin Baxter, Rachel Zilinskas and Haley Anderson in a race to remember.

Mann, who swam the Maui Channel at the age of 10 and moved to Florida to specifically train under Coach Randy Reese, is clearly on her way and will attempt to also represent the United States at the upcoming world championships in Barcelona, Spain in both the 10 km and other pool events from the 200m butterfly to the 800m freestyle.
