Bangor’s Ghost Gives Tribute

Courtesy of Brian Meharg, Bangor, Northern Ireland.

For years, Brian Meharg escorted swimmers across the North Channel between Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Meharg enthralled the audience at Bangor’s Ghost on July 4th at the Queen’s Parade Church.

The entertainers of Bangor’s Ghost told the tales of the seaside, giving tribute to women of historical note.

These women have long embraced the cold waters along Bangor’s beautiful rocky coastline. Songs, poetry and stories of shipwrecks, mermaids and memoirs were curated by songwriter Rachel McCarthy, songwriter and story teller David Lennon, poet Moyra Donaldson, musicians Bronagh Donnelly McClean and Colleen McCleery, and Meharg, the most renowned Bangor escort boat pilot.
