Australian Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Honors Kate Brookes Peterson

Chris Guesdon and Gary Toner announced Kate Brookes Peterson as a member of the inaugural Class of 2020 in the Australian Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame.
They explained, “Kate, Australian Swimming representative number 623, earned her pin for selection at the FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships.
Kate won two bronze medals at the 2007 FINA World Swimming Championships. Kate braved jellyfish stings and nausea to claim her second bronze medal of the world swimming championships in the 10 km open water race at St. Kilda Beach in 2007 adding to the bronze she won in the 5 km.
Kate has represented Australia at many world championships in open water in both the 10 km and 25 km events starting in 2001 in Fukuoka, Japan where she finished 8th in the 10 km.
Kate’s highest rankings were a 2nd place finish in the London 10 km FINA World Cup in 2007, her two third placings at the 2007 FINA World Championships in Melbourne, Australia, 4th at the FINA Grand Prix 15 km in Dubai in 2009, and a 5th place in the 25 km World Championships in Seville, Spain in 2008. Kate won many Australian open water 10 km titles.
