Antonio Argüelles Sets Guinness World Record

Along with Jaimie Monahan, Ram Barkai, Lewis Pugh, Sally Minty-Gravett MBE, and Pat Gallant-Charette, Mexico’s Antonio Argüelles officially received a Guinness World Record certificate from adjudicator Kim Partrick at the 2018 Open Water Summit and WOWSA Awards at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, California.

Argüelles set the world record for being the Oldest Person to Swim the Oceans Seven at the age of 58:

* English Channel on 3 September 1999 in 18 hours 19 minutes (40) + 6 September 2009 in 12 hours 54 minutes (50)
* Catalina Channel on 12 July 1999 in 12 hours 25 minutes (40) + on 13 October 2008 in 13 hours 10 minutes (49) + on 13 July 2009 in 10 hours 25 minutes (50)
* Strait of Gibraltar on 2 July 2015 in 4 hours 23 minutes (56)
* Tsugaru Channel on 15 September 2015 in 12 hours 38 minutes (56)
* Molokai Channel in March 2016 in 23 hours 18 minutes (56)
* Cook Strait on 19 March 2017 in 11 hours 20 minutes (57)
* North Channel on 3 August 2017 in 13 hours 32 minutes (58)
