Ana Marcela Cunha Wins Another FINA World Cup Title

Spread the love

Ana Marcela Cunha of Brazil handily won her second FINA 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup title with a season-long dominating performance, from South America to Europe, North America to Asia.

After a third place finish in Santos (Brazil), a sixth in Viedma (Argentina) in the first two legs of the World Cup circuit, Ana Marcela really started to pick up steam.

She won the 10 km races in Eilat (Israel) and Cancun (Mexico), then picked up a third in lac St-Jean (Canada) and a second in lac Mégantic (Canada), and then finished the season with victories in Hong Kong and Shantou (China).

Consistently competitive throughout the season, tenaciously tough in all conditions warm and cold, and spectacularly speedy down the finish, Ana Marcela fired on all cylinders in 3 continents during 2012.  While she maintained a full pool and ocean swimming schedule in her native country of Brazil, she put her stamp on the international circuit.

And expect her to continue her winning ways until the 2016 Rio Olympics where she will be well-positioned to be competitive in the Olympic 10km Marathon Swim in Copacabana Beach in front of hundreds of thousands of spectators.
