It was inevitable. Ana Marcela Cunha is not only always competitive in every race that she competes in, but she also had a tremendously successful 2017 FINA World Championship last year in Balatonfüred with a gold medal performance in the 25 km and two bronze medal swims in the 5 km and 10 km races.
The Brazilian star had to give it all she had against Olympic silver medalists Haley Anderson (2012) and Rachele Bruni (2016) in the FINA/HOSA Marathon Swim World Series 10 km race held yesterday in Balatonfüred.
In a close call, she barely beat Anderson by 0.30 seconds and Bruni by 1.6 seconds.
