Damián Blaum is ready to swim another 57 km in the Maratón Acuática Internacional Santa Fe – Coronda in the Río Coronda in Argentina while his wife Esther Nuñez Morera and child Gala will be ready at the finish line on February 3rd.

Blaum last won the race in 2017 [see finish photo above], “I am very happy to be back here in Santa Fe. Now we just have to rest and swim well on Sunday.”

While he didn’t win in 2018, Blaum described last year as “…the best year of my life with the arrival of Gala. I was able to fully enjoy her first year of life, and the growth of the baby is something incomparable. So now I’m looking to settle in and have a good season in 2019.”

A key issue in this year’s race will be the height of the Río Coronda. Blaum explained the impact of having more water than normal in the river, “It is treading at 5.30, almost the same mark as it was in the year that the record was set in 2010. Is it going to rain” There are many things that can affect the swimmers so we have to be prepared for whatever comes during the race.

It will be a tough race with many very good swimmers. I know that I am considered a pre-race favorite, but there are three strong Italians are strong, the Brazilian, Evgenij Pop Acev, the Ecuadorian are all good so the race can be won by any of these swimmers.”
