One swimmer who could benefit from the recently announced delay in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games is 22-year-old Alice Dearing. She finished 17th in 1:55:05.90 at the last Olympic 10 km qualifying swim in Yeosu EXPO Ocean Park in South Korea, only 14 seconds out of an automatic slot.

She has an excellent chance to qualify for the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim in the second Olympic qualifier that is scheduled for Fukuoka, Japan. FINA has not yet announced any delays or changes to its second Olympic qualification race scheduled for Seaside Momochi Beach Park in Fukuoka this coming May 30th and 31st.

BBC Sport reports how Dearing could make history by becoming the first black woman to represent Great Britain in swimming at the 2020 Olympics in 2021.

Listen to Dearing here on BBC Sport about her journey.
