“They were down, but they came back,” reported Donna DeVarona, an ABC-TV reporter at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, about the American women’s 400m freestyle relay.
“They had a winning attitude. [They] reached inside…”
That attitude and will to win and be a great teammate has carried Wendy Boglioli throughout her life.
And what a wonderfully passionate and productive life it has been.
After winning two Olympic medals and becoming the coach of Yale University, Boglioli is a healthy aging advocate and has served as a motivational speaker, a columnist, an ambassador for The Foundation for Global Sports Development, and the national spokesperson for Genworth Financial where she often delivers a well-received presentation called Financially Sound, Physically Strong.
In her motivational speeches, she explains how everyone can achieve their goals and lead a healthy lifestyle. Boglioli, shown swimming the second leg in the relay telecast below, will join FINIS co-founder and open water supporter John Mix to talk about the mental and physical benefits of swimming in an online webinar from 10:30 – 11:30 San Francisco time tomorrow on May 1st.
