Midnight McGee Enjoys A Beautiful Night Across The Catalina Channel

Spread the love

Stephanie McGee (32, USA, @stephie.mcgee) started at midnight on a beautiful night for her first channel crossing with her husband Kevin as her escort kayaker.

“[The Catalina Channel] was gorgeous. 10/10 moonrise, a starry night, beautiful sunrise, sunshine, critters, calm conditions, a cheering squad, and a great support crew. I could not have dreamed of a better crossing. Everything went perfectly.

I saw a four-pack of devil rays swim under me and imagined they were [our teammates] were training together.

I got inspiration and learned lessons from all of Hank Wise’s crossing.”

McGee had a number of family members and Swim Long Beach teammates who joined her at her finish at Terranea Resort on the Palos Verdes Peninsula 9 hours 40 minutes after her start.
