Both Ginevra Taddeucci of Italy and Florian Wellbrock of Germany were double gold medalists in the 5 km and 10 km races at the 2026 European Aquatics Championships that were held in the Seine in Paris, France.

Omega Timing (see here) added Stroke Analysis to the timing results that I found interesting:

• Top 10 men’s average strokes per minute pace in the 10 km: 72.3 SPM
• Top 10 women’s average strokes per minute pace in 10 km: 77.4 SPM
• Top 10 men’s average strokes per minute pace in the 5 km: 75.9 SPM
• Top 10 women’s average strokes per minute pace in the 5 km: 80.4 SPM

It was clear to see that the women’s turnover was higher than the men’s turnover and the average turnover for the 5 km race was higher than the 10 km race.

The differences in stroke styles among the men ranged from 60.5 SPM for Florian Wellbrock to 87.6 SPM for David Betlehem in the 10 km race, and 63.2 SPM for Wellbrock and 92.4 SPM for Betlehem in the 5 km race. In both races, they finished only 2 seconds apart.

The differences in stroke styles among the women ranged from 66.3 SPM for Polina Koziakina to 94.4 SPM for Ginevra Taddeucci in the 10 km race, and 77.1 SPM for Ekaterina Sorokina and 97.0 SPM for Ginevra Taddeucci in the 5 km race.
