
Diego Cisneros of Sol y Luna invites swimmers from around the world to visit Lake Titicaca, nestled between Peru and Bolivia, the largest lake in South America and one of the highest navigable lakes in the world. “The lake presents a unique and exhilarating challenge for open water swimmers.
Our event aims to celebrate the beauty and diversity of open water swimming while fostering a sense of camaraderie among participants from around the globe. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a passionate enthusiast, this event promises to be a remarkable adventure filled with excitement and personal achievement.
We believe that by coming together to share our love for open water swimming in such a breathtaking setting, we can inspire each other and promote the values of inclusivity, perseverance, and environmental stewardship that define our sport.

The two Sol y Luna events will be next held on May 11th. Nadando Cerca del Cielo or the Isla del Sol – Isla de la Luna is held in water about 14ºC (57.2ºF) at 3,810 meters in altitude. A 7.5 km race is from the Isla del Sol to the Isla de la Luna. The 10 km race is from
Yampupata to the Isla del Sol to the Isla de la Luna. Juan José Bravo and Juan Luis Flores help organize the two swims.
