The Inner West Courier reported on the outstanding story of Lynette Usher who finished the Dee Why Surf Swim. “I’m in my late 60’s and once you hit my age, you don’t get many firsts. This was a first. I felt on top of the world, completely and utterly exhausted, but absolutely fantastic for finishing. When I got out of the water and heard everyone cheering me, that kept me going, otherwise I could’ve collapsed on the ground.”
