Tough, Tough Swim By Steve Walker

Steve Walker is very familiar with cold water. He did an ice mile back in 2.7°C (37°F) back in 1996 in Melbourne, Australia.

With an attempt at the North Channel between Scotland and Northern Ireland coming up in August, Walker attempted a swim across the Strait of Juan de Fuca between America and neighboring Canada.

But with the water an uncompromising, uncomfortable 46°F (7.7°C), Walker managed 10.8 miles instead of the entire crossing of 13.8 miles.

A tremendous effort.
