7-Up: Hank Wise vs. Samuel Neri Across The Catalina Channel

In October 2018, Hank Wise set a Guinness World Record for his 7 career crossings of the Catalina Channel [see here].

In November 2019, Samuel Neri of Mexico tied Wise with his own seventh career crossing in 13 hours 7 minutes.

Neri, a 55-year-old Mexican attorney, has now swam across the Catalina Channel in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019.

Wise, a 52-year-old swimming coach, has swum across the Catalina Channel in 2010, 2015 (twice), 2016, 2017 (twice), and 2018.

It will be interesting to watch the two 50-something men battle it out the rest of their career for the King of the Catalina Channel title.
