5th Anniversary Of The Austrian Open Water Cup

The Austrian Open Water Cup, organized by Andreas Sachs, is an open water swimming series in Austria sponsored by Arena for swimmers of all ages and abilities.

The 2016 series will celebrate its fifth season with the following races:

Stage 1: 7 May 2016: 3.8 km Apfelland swimming marathon in Stubenbergsee
Stage 2: 28 May 2016: 4.5 km SWIManiak in Klopeinersee
Stage 3: 19 June 2016: 5 km Swimming Festival Lake Neusiedl in Lake Neusiedl
Stage 4: 3 July 2016: 6 km Chiemgau Therme long-distance swimming in Simssee
Stage 5: 16 July 2016: 3 km Lunzer lake swimming in Lunzer See
Stage 6: 30 July 2016: 10 km Hallstättersee swimming marathon in Lake Hallstatt
Stage 7: 7 August 2016: 5 km Hechtsee X-Treme in Hechtsee
Stage 8: 27 August 2016: 4.2 km Fuschlseecrossing in Fuschlsee
Stage 9: 10 September 2016: 6 km Vienna Swim Trial in Neue Donau

In 2015, the overall series winners included:

Age group I male
1. Michael Scherer (SV Vöcklabruck) 5500 points
2. Marc Repkow (SV Ottobrunn) 4430
3. John Pauritsch (USC Graz) 4090

Age group I Female
1. Sarah Frühwirth (Water becks) 5600
2. Juliane Theusinger (SU Generali Salzburg) 4900
3. Kathleen Bare (Pool Piranhas) 4500

Age Class II Male
1. Uwe Bertram (SV Ottobrunn) 6000
2. Norbert Nagl (SUW) 5000
3. Bernhard Sifferlinger (AVL Triathlon) 4730

Age Class II Female
1. Barbara Atzmüller (SU Generali Salzburg) 5800
2. Lisa Rosenblatt (SC Hakoah) 4000
3. Cordula Biermayer (Vienna) 2510
